A Best Third Release Honorable Mention in the 2007 Awards

The third release from Falling Up features a lot of musical expansion and diversification.

Forgoing a first-track musical buildup, they instead get right to it with “A Guide To Marine Life”. Its music— which shows their new, wide expansion— rises and falls in steps, and this intriguing track also has an appealing chorus.

Then follows “Hotel Aquarium”, an excellent, rhythmic rock track with the most straightforward lyrics (all the way through) that they’ve ever sung. It’s one of their all-time best.

Quite different-sounding track “Goodnight Gravity” contains an interesting use of synths underneath the rock guitars and vocals (which are both more conventional than their usual style).

Title track “Captiva” is also somewhat different musically from their previous work; but it does contain the same kind of artistic lyrics. The vocal harmonies in the chorus and bridge are quite good, and the song finishes with a thoughtful instrumental outro.

“Helicopters” is quite different musically, especially in the verses, which are slower and somewhat dark; and the artistic lyrics (also especially in the verses) are very vague.

“Maps” contains a bit of a surprise— in comparison to their other work, its music is actually medium-light rock.

“How They Made Cameras” features part-artistic/part-straightforward lyrics, and equally part-familiar/part-different music. It’s an excellent track.

“Good Morning Planetarium” again musically mixes both familiar and new elements, and it has quite straightforward lyrics, too.

“Murexa” (its title— as explained by frontman Jessy Ribordy— referring to a rare type of shell found in the ocean) features great, energetic full rock, which builds further in the chorus; and showcases a bit higher vocal range than we’ve heard from Jessy before.

“Drago Or The Dragons” is another rock track, this one darker in tone; and while some of this track’s lyrics are downright puzzling, that’s not really a surprise. The song ends with a rhythmic, engaging, and quite cool beat/synth instrumental.

The intriguing “Arch To Achtilles” musically builds throughout from a piano to full rock; then the end steps down to a piano once more.

Finally, closer track “The Dark Side Of Indoor Track Meets” is excellent musically, with a perfect rising/falling quality between different portions of the song. And the way the chorus vocals are harmonized with each other and with the music underneath is also excellent (and very catching). The piano outro fades into an at-first rather suspenseful synth instrumental, which eventually changes tone and then stops.

Our rating for Captiva: 5 Stars. 5 Stars

Falling Up – Exit Lights (Remix)

Exit Lights

This is anything but a typical remix CD, and it’s all the better because of that. Utilizing many different producers (including frontman Jessy Ribordy himself on one track), these songs aren’t just ‘remixed’— many are literal remakes. Not only are some of the original lyrics removed from several songs, there are completely new lyric additions. And while the songs’ music has changed, as expected, a good number of the changes were actually recorded by the bandmembers themselves. And there are also three entirely brand-new tracks! Wow.

(Apart from the musical aspects, interestingly enough, the liner notes are somewhat of a mystery. The words written there are only actual song lyrics for maybe three of the tracks, and even those are not totally complete. The rest of them are vague, rambling thoughts that appear connected only loosely with each other and not really at all to the song they’re written under. It gives you something to ponder over, anyway. )

Exit Lights kicks off with “Islander”, the first of the three completely new songs. It features great percussion/drums and a really cool electronic-sounding bass until the chorus, where the music becomes a sort of atmospheric rock. Lyrically it is about isolation; and there are more lyrics in this song than what is printed in the liner notes.

“Exit Calypsan (Into The Ice Cave)” has a new tune, is more beat-driven and rhythmic, and still has a good, rocking chorus. This is a different take on the original that is very good.

“Escalates (Aceramic)” also has a new tune; and this particular track is actually redone in Dance-style. It’s quite different until the chorus, which is cool and low-rocking.

“Broken Heart (Ghosts Of Seaside)” begins almost creepy with a music box and echoing background voices. Again, it’s more beat-driven and has a new tune. At the end a clip from a speaker’s talk is also mixed in, and it’s pretty interesting. This is another very good take on the original.

“Circlewinds” is the second of the three brand-new tracks, and it’s actually an instrumental interlude. It consists of Jessy’s great piano playing along with some great orchestration, done in a suspenseful style. It almost sounds like a movie score.

“Moonlit (Neon Predator)” is produced by and features Solomon “Soul Glow Activatur” Olds of Family Force 5. As you might guess, this track is upbeat and fairly electronic, and during the chorus it moves into a really great new rock riff. Solomon’s lyrics, which he adds near the end of the song, are not written in the liner notes.

“Bittersweet (A Jedi Force)” has a good opening electronic buildup with an almost completely new tune. This song is interesting in that it’s actually almost totally electronic, and this track’s mysterious producer (“Jedi McKnight”) left in almost no lyrics.

“Third Lake” is the last of the three brand-new tracks on the album, and it’s another instrumental interlude. It again features orchestration, and great piano playing behind the other instruments.

“Searchlights (Indoor Soccer)” is another Dance-style track, but this time it’s much more rocking (especially in the chorus). It also has a new tune.

“Fearless (250 And Dark Stars)” features Troma and Trevor McNevan from TFK. Partway through the song, the music fades away as if finished and then guest Troma sings a verse, after which the music returns. This track is also interesting because along with the new music and great piano, the lyrics in the liner notes (which actually are lyrics this time, and you also might notice that they copied a line from one of their other songs) actually completely replace the original ones.

“Contact (Complexus)” is slightly more electronic than the original, and it of course has a new guitar tune. There’s a cool voice chorus in the background and a neat drumbeat near the end, too.

“Exhibition (Epoison)” features Rachel Lampa. It has a suspenseful electronic/orchestra intro, similar but slightly modified piano, and some added/replaced lyrics. Not all of the words written in the liner notes are sung; the rest are apparently thoughts.

Finally, the very good closer track “Cascades (From In The Forest Cascadia)” has a new tune and is actually somewhat more rocking than the original.

We’re glad that Falling Up decided to make this CD, because it’s the best remix album we’ve heard in a long, long time, and a great disc in itself. We recommend it.

Our rating for Exit Lights: 5 & 1/3 Stars. 5 & 1/3 Stars

Dawn Escapes

BEST SECOND RELEASE 2005 Award Winner!
Falling Up's 'Dawn Escapes' - Best Second Release Award Winner

Runners-Up: tobyMac (Welcome To Diverse City), Thousand Foot Krutch (Phenomenon), John Reuben (Hindsight), Mae (The Everglow), The Elms (Truth, Soul, Rock & Roll), Kevin Max (The Imposter), Bleach (Static), DJ Andy Hunter (Life), Relient K (Anatomy Of The Tongue In Cheek), Flatfoot 56 (Waves Of War).
Honorable Mentions: Pillar (Fireproof), Cool Hand Luke (The Fires Of Life).

One word: Wow.

Falling Up’s hit debut was excellent, earning a solid Best First Release… and with such talent, it was expected by nearly everyone who heard it that their second album would match (and probably even surpass) that.

It did.

Dawn Escapes, Falling Up’s second release, takes their original style and keeps the great guitars while also cranking the keyboards up a notch; maturing even further their music, vocals, and lyrics (which have become much more vague and artistic, adding another layer of interest), Falling Up does indeed meet (and exceed!) expectations.

Dawn Escapes kicks off with another first-track buildup on “Searchlights”. [Falling Up leads into the opening tracks of their first two albums by adding the instruments one by one, layer by layer, until they reach the main theme and vocals.]

“Exhibition” has the familiar layered guitars along with the upped keyboards, great drums, and (as ever) great vocals.

“Flights” begins with a great, short, synthesized-voice intro layered over building guitars, which flows into the rock a few seconds later.

“Exit Calypsan (Only In My Dreams)” features lyrics and music that are memorable (and simply great).

The medium-paced, intriguingly calming, and surprisingly beautiful track “Contact” is Falling Up’s slowest song so far. It provides a good break and a nice change of pace before the next track…

…And what a track it is! “Moonlit”, one of the radio singles released from this CD, is nearly tied with “Lights Of Reedsport” (below) for best track of the album. A rocking, rhythmic crowd-pleaser that makes you want to move, it’s an excellent song.

“Cascades” has some interesting melody combinations, a solid chorus, and a great rock riff near the end.

“Meridians” again has a great, interesting music combination, this time between the guitars, keyboards, and cool drum line. There are some neat vocal harmonies, too.

Now, if we absolutely had to choose a single track as the best track of the album (which is really almost impossible, because this whole CD is basically one hit after another), “Lights Of Reedsport” would be it. There are some awesome musical elements in this song (including guitars that are just powerful, and the guys using their voices to marvelous effect). It’s an amazing track.

“Marathons” is another great track. A type of anthem, it’s lyrically neat, musically sound, and a quite solid rocker.

“Fearless” has a cool, quick drum/guitar intro. The main melody, which contains some neat riffs, smoothly changes for the chorus and then just as smoothly eases back; and the final bridge’s vocal harmony and guitar combo is just great.

And to cap off this astounding release is “Intro The Gravity”. It begins with orchestration, which changes into a sweeping vocal, piano, guitar, and beat combination, closing this CD perfectly.

In all, Falling Up’s sophomore album upgrades their style, again showcases their talent, and is definitely worthy of Best Second Release.

Falling Up – Crashings

Crashings

BEST FIRST RELEASE 2005 Award Winner!
Falling Up's 'Crashings' - Best First Release Award Winner

Runners-Up: Kids In The Way (Safe From The Losing Fight), Aaron Sprinkle (Lackluster), Showbread (No Sir, Nihilism Is Not Practical), tobyMac (Momentum),
Kutless (Kutless), John Reuben (Are We There Yet?), subseven (Free To Conquer),
Everyday Sunday (Stand Up), Dizmas (On A Search In America), Day Of Fire (Day Of Fire).
Honorable Mentions: Duvall (Volume & Density), Ever Stays Red (…I’ll Tell The World),
Sides Of The North (The Incurable Romantic).

On Crashings, the members of Falling Up show a remarkable (and admirable) maturity in both their music and lyrics. These are rather uncommon features in such a new, young band’s first release, and are major points in Falling Up’s favor. Also, because of their fairly large six-member band, their music can (and does) have a lot of layers, which makes it audibly interesting. When lead singer Jessy Ribordy adds his great vocals and their mature lyrics into the mix, the result is nothing short of excellent.

Crashings‘ first track, “Bittersweet”, is built up layer by layer until they reach the main theme [a great first-track feature that they also used on their second release]. This is a good rocking opener.

Next follows “Symmetry”, which features interesting melody combinations between the music and vocals and a great short rock riff near the end.

“Broken Heart” is a classic Falling Up song. Their first radio release, this rocking smash single is a fan favorite and all-around excellent.

“Escalates” is another good layered rocker.

“New Hope Generation” (featuring Benjiman), as its title suggests, is meant to acknowledge struggle and yet encourage you and give you hope. There are some great vocals in this song.

“The Gathering” is again about comfort and hope; and again, it has great music. The final verse has a good vocal combination, too.

“Jacksonfive” is different from the other songs on this album in that its vocals are done almost entirely by guests (Benjiman, Paul Wright, Jon Micah of Kutless, and Ryan Clark of Demon Hunter). If you know what those bands’ styles are— Benjiman is Hip-Hop (Rap), Paul Wright is Reggae-influenced Pop, Kutless at this point was Hard-Edged Rock/Rock, and Demon Hunter is Metal!— you have a good idea of how diverse this song is.

“Divinity”, another great track, has vocal and musical combinations that simply sweep you in (especially in the chorus and near the end).

“Places” is a bit faster-paced and continues the great vocals and music.

“Falling In Love”— beginning slower but picking right back up in the chorus— is a passionate song with great lyrics.

“Ambience” (again featuring great, rocking music) describes finally seeing through long-held lies, and in the process it rebukes those who have told them.

And the final track, “Arafax Deep”, closes off the album with yet more great lyrics and music.

Crashings is an excellent album, and worthy of Best First Release.

Eowyn – Silent Screams

Silent Screams

BEST THIRD RELEASE 2008 Award Winner!
Eowyn's 'Silent Screams' - Best Third Release Award Winner

Runner-Up: DJ Andy Hunter (Colour).
Honorable Mention: The Contact (Canvas Tears).

Eowyn’s third release shows a dramatic quality improvement from her previous work (in all ways)— the lyrics are better than ever; Eowyn’s expressive, powerful vocals now really come to the forefront; and the Hard Rock music is coherent and tight. (No less than five of these tracks gave us goosebumps…)

“Crashing” opens Silent Screams with intriguing, suspenseful sound effects, the Hard Rock kicking in soon after.

“Life” musically and vocally kicks it up further, and lyrically points out truth and hope to those in despair.

“To My Surprise” begins with (and later repeats) a vocal/music trade-off that pulls you in; and the expressive nature of Eowyn’s voice enhances the song’s powerful lyrics.

Excellent title track “Silent Screams” (featuring Rob Beckley of Pillar) describes the current state of far too many youth, and both gives them some hope while firmly telling adults that they need to get involved now.

“Runaway” features interesting drumwork, and its slightly softer verses kick into a fast-driving chorus.

“Unfinished Memories” is the only non-Hard Rock song on the disc, beginning with piano and then building in steps to a combination of piano, muted drums, acoustic guitar, and orchestration. Lyrically dealing with the accidental death of a former bandmember, it’s a deeply emotional (and powerful) track.

“Hands Of Time” is one of the most memorable tracks because— unique on the album— its rhythmic drums are in the foreground, and its dark, equally-rhythmic synths are perfectly entwined with both the drums and Eowyn’s vocals. It’s excellent, and it leaves you wanting more.

“Significant” builds through the verses to great Hard Rock in the chorus and bridge, and its lyrics give hope and strength.

“Saving Grace”, another excellent track, has great lyrics and soft verses contrasted by a powerful chorus. This is also one of the most memorable tracks.

Finally, “Goodbye” builds up to heavy Hard Rock music and closes the disc off right.

In all, Silent Screams is an excellent album, and it’s worthy of Best Third Release.

Our rating for Silent Screams: 5 & 1/3 Stars. 5 & 1/3 Stars

A NOTABLE 7TH-OR-HIGHER RELEASE 2008 Award Winner!
Disciple's 'Southern Hospitality' - A Notable 7th-or-Higher Release Award Winner

Runners-Up: NONE.

Disciple’s 8th album features vocals and a level of heaviness similar to their self-titled sixth release; but with their lineup changes, there are some new elements as well. And while their guitarwork has always been superb, its technicality has actually edged up a notch further.

Southern Hospitality kicks off with its indeed-Southern-touched, Hard-Rocking title track. It features exuberant lyrics, it’s catchy, and it’s excellent.

“Romance Me” quickens the pace a bit more with a driving beat and an energetic chorus.

“321” is another Southern-touched track, this one with lyrics reminding of the soon-approaching end of time. It flows into the next song without a pause.

“Whisper So Loud” is a driving, rhythmic track with an appealing chorus and an excellent high-speed guitar run in the bridge.

“Whatever Reason” is the disc’s first slowdown, but only to Rock — and it does pick up in power near the end.

Of course, “Phoenix Rising”, as you probably expect , brings the excellent full heaviness right back. The Hard Rock in the chorus and bridges is rhythmic and catchy.

“Liar” is even heavier, and (as explained in the liner notes) its lyrics deal with the struggle to forgive.

“Falling Star” is rhythmic with some appealing musical and vocal melodies; and it firmly points out that there is always hope, no matter what you may be feeling like.

“Right There” features full-sounding acoustic guitars in the verses and loud regular Rock in the intro, chorus, and bridge.

“On My Way Down” is heavier, and has another great guitar run near the track’s end.

“Lay My Burdens” begins with a bluesy, muted electric guitar, then kicks into great Hard-Edged Rock. Plus, just when you think it’s winding down, the rock slides back in for an encore! It’s an excellent track.

And the final track, “Savior”, is lyrically a compassionate prayer. Its music is low, medium-paced Rock; however, the vocals increase in height and emotion throughout, closing the album well.

This is yet another excellent album from Disciple, and it’s worthy of this Award.

Our rating for Southern Hospitality: 5 & 1/4 Stars. 5 & 1/4 Stars

A NOTABLE 7TH-OR-HIGHER RELEASE 2006 Award Winner!
Disciple's 'Scars Remain' - A Notable 7th-or-Higher Release Award Winner

Also Winning A 2006 Notable 7th-Or-Higher Release: Skillet (Comatose).
Runners-Up: NONE.

Interestingly enough, this album— Disciple’s seventh release— has both a bit more Melodic and a much more heavy feel to it this time around, the two aspects perfectly mixed; and the disc as a whole is even more coherent than before.

“Regime Change”, the opening track of Scars Remain, showcases their new musical mix perfectly. The bass and guitars are even more heavy and full, and even the vocals are heavier.

“Love Hate (On And On)” is a heavy, melodic, and powerful song that lyrically describes the stark blend of love and hate, good and evil, present in this life.

“My Hell” contains interesting guitars and more great vocals.

Title track “Scars Remain” has a great, synchronized bass/guitar/drum intro. And while the vocals stay within the limits of Hard Rock (albeit on the heavy end), the music on this particular track surprisingly dips into Metal territory at its close. (Indeed, this is easily the second-heaviest track on the disc.)

“Game On”, an excellent, energetic tribute to all the men and women serving in our Armed Forces, has great lyrics that are done somewhat Raprock-style. (Plus, the powerful bridge gave us goosebumps. Wow.)

“Someone” begins with a fast-moving, quite heavy, and nicely distorted bass/guitar line that fades down for the verses and back up for the chorus; the song’s vocals are similar to those on their previous release. It finishes with a quick, excellent guitar riff.

“After The World” opens with an acoustic guitar, yet somehow seems to keep pace. It moves into straight-up Rock during the chorus.

“Dive” slides right back into fast-moving Hard Rock. This track is rhythmic, driving, and exuberant.

“Fight For Love”, a lyrical rally cry, slams in suddenly with heavy vocals, and the equally heavy music pounds gleefully in a few moments later. This is the disc’s heaviest track.

“Purpose To Melody” is a rhythmic, excellent, and very appealing Hard Rock track.

And the final, somewhat intriguing track “No End At All” is slower-paced with medium Rock music.

Special Edition CD Bonus Content:

Scars Remain‘s Special Edition CD comes with five extra tracks. The first extra track is the regular version of “Things Left Unsaid” (which can also be found on the Limited Edition of their previous album, Disciple). Next come bonus, freshly-recorded acoustic renderings of four tracks:

The acoustic “Love Hate (On And On)” is an interesting, darkly driven version, with an acoustic guitar, electric bass, and full drums. The vocals, of course, are not screamed but instead entirely sung; yet, as usual, Kevin Young’s voice carries it with great power anyway.

The acoustic “After The World” is an even more stripped-down version musically, featuring just acoustic guitar (which is quite good, actually). Its vocals are sung, yet they are also powerful and quite a bit more emotional.

The acoustic “My Hell” features acoustic guitar/electric bass/full drums and sung vocals. Its new music is different from anything else they’ve done, and it’s very good.

Finally, the acoustic “Things Left Unsaid” features mostly dark piano, with occasional acoustic guitar fills, orchestration, and percussion well in the background. The power of Kevin’s vocals in this emotional song are a bit of a contrast to the new music underneath.

Special Edition DVD Bonus Content:

The Special Edition also comes with a DVD, featuring two of their music videos (“After The World” and “Scars Remain”).

In total, Disciple has delivered another excellent album, certainly worthy of a Notable 7th-or-Higher Release Award.

Our rating for Scars Remain: 5 & 1/2 Stars. 5 & 1/2 Stars

BEST SIXTH RELEASE 2005 Award Winner!
Disciple's 'Disciple' - Best Sixth Release Award Winner

Runner-Up: Skillet (Collide).

With their self-titled sixth release, Disciple has somehow amazingly improved their already-great sound. In all ways, this record is excellent.

Disciple kicks off with “The Wait Is Over”. Their quality Hard Rock rolls out, and you know that this is going to be a great album.

The excellent music and great vocals of “Stripped Away” make it another great song.

“Into Black”, with a slightly different musical feel, lyrically reminds you not to worry because you’re never really alone.

“Only You” is one of the few songs on the disc that are actually acoustic-guitar driven; yet, like the rest of the album, it’s great in all ways.

“Rise Up” kicks the full Hard Rock back in, and its chorus is fairly catchy.

Several sections of “Worth It All” are also catchy; lyrically, it focuses on pressing on with all your heart and mind, because it’ll all be worth it.

“Shine Down” has great, rhythmic verses and a straight-up Rock chorus.

“Falling Over” is an all-around excellent song with an even better chorus and final verse— another one of the album’s best tracks.

“Go Ahead”, with the contrast of muted heavy verses and a just-sung chorus, lyrically talks about someone who is trying to cut them down with words/etc., and lets that person know that it won’t work and will only make them stronger in the end.

“Beautiful” is a slower, acoustic-guitar-driven track at first, but contains rock during the chorus and last bridge.

Slow Hard Rocker “Be The Quiet” has a great guitar line and rhythmic verses.

“Backstabber” picks the pace back up and lyrically rebukes someone who they trusted, who betrayed them; then firmly declares that they’re moving on.

“All We Have Is Now” is yet again quite catchy in certain parts. Lyrically, it encourages you to do what you can with your life today, because you don’t know what will happen tomorrow.

And finally the 14th track, not listed on the CD back [on the regular edition] but called “Tribute” in the liner notes, is another great song that is indeed a tribute to all of the men and women in our Armed Forces who have fought, and are currently fighting, for our freedom.

Limited Edition DualDisc CD-Side Bonus Content:

First of the Limited Edition CD-side bonus tracks is their excellent cover of Depeche Mode’s “I Feel You”. Along with their great Hard Rock musical take, frontman Kevin Young does the song’s octave changes amazingly. “I Feel You” is yet another Disciple best-of.

“Suicide” has a direct message for those contemplating the act, firmly encouraging them to hold on to life, because there is still hope.

“Things Left Unsaid” is (what else? ) yet another best-of track. It has sweeping music; lyrically, it goes through the death of a loved one, with the message to not take any person or any moment for granted, and to do all that you can and care for them while you’re here. This song gave us goosebumps.

“Pain” closes off the Limited Edition disc; lyrically, it describes how pain from what others have done will remain (and only make things worse) until you let it go.

Limited Edition DualDisc DVD-Side Bonus Content:

The DVD side contains the entire Limited Edition CD audio (including the bonus tracks) again in 5.1 Surround-Sound for the benefit of those with home theater systems; it also contains a great “Day In The Life” video documentary that is humorous and insightful, as well as some individual video interviews with the bandmembers and their producer.

Disciple’s self-titled album is simply an excellent CD, and it’s definitely worthy of Best Sixth Release.

Our rating for Disciple: 5 & 1/2 Stars. 5 & 1/2 Stars

Disciple – Back Again

Back Again

A Best Fifth Release Nominee in the 2005 Awards

Interestingly, along with improving their music even more, Back Again contains quite a bit heavier vocals overall than their other albums [so far ].

Energetic opening track “Back Again” has fast, Raprock-style verses, a screamed bridge, and a sung chorus, as well as a great guitar solo near the end.

“Fear” emphasizes why we should, and can, not be afraid. It’s all-around great.

“103” is musically quite heavy, lyrically as great as ever, and has a great vocal melody in the chorus. It’s an excellent track.

“Touch” is even heavier, in all ways.

Keeping the energy going, “Face” continues almost all of that heaviness, and it has an appealing chorus.

“Wait” has a muted intro, which of course then morphs into excellent heavy Hard Rock. This track also contains an unbelievably long, 20-second scream (from 3:24 to 3:44!), showcasing Kevin Young’s incredible vocal (and lung!) power.

“Hardened” has vocals that are muted and placed in the background during the verses, while the bridges and chorus are at full volume.

“Why Don’t You Shut Up” has a catchy, rhythmic intro; and the vocals are quite raw. Lyrically, they explain that they’ll always just be who they are, saying what they need to in the style that they need to, no matter what.

“Before You” is an absolutely excellent heavy track that includes several pace changes. It’s one of the album’s best.

“Remembering” contains a different kind of vocal melody in the chorus in contrast to the rest of the song. Its music is as heavy as the rest of the album, and there’s also a neat little instrumental bridge near the end.

“Not The Same” powerfully explains that it’s not what people (and bandmembers) look like or sound like, it’s what’s inside— what’s in the heart— that matters. It’s another of the album’s best tracks.

“Next Time” has slightly more singing in it than most of the other tracks, though the music is still just as heavy.

And the final track, “One More Time”, is the only slow-paced song on the disc; but it does not have the feel of a ballad. Instead, it’s dark and slowly-building, closing out the album very well.

This is yet another great Disciple album, and we recommend it.

Our rating for Back Again: 5 & 1/4 Stars. 5 & 1/4 Stars

Rockin’ Christmas Trivia:

Did you know that the classic Christmas hymn Silent Night was actually originally written for guitar?

While many often-humorous myths have been espoused over the years to romanticize why, it is a known, solid fact that it was only originally written for voice and guitar— not an organ. Silent Night's lyrics were penned by priest (and accomplished guitarist) Joseph Mohr in 1816; then in 1818 he gave them to Franz Xaver Gruber, who composed the music— directly for guitar.

Genre – Science Fiction *

[slider title="* Note "]

Almost all Science Fiction (that has aliens in it, at least) assumes from the start the Big Bang, billions of years, and Darwinism; so during the course of the genre's stories those assumptions might occasionally be mentioned. While we review some sci-fi because the stories are quite good, we do not endorse the genre's underlying assumptions (for good reason).
